September 30th - October 4th - Hispanic Heritage Month Spirit Week

 Houston Food Bank Market

We're excited to announce that the Houston Food Bank's partnership with Southwest will continue into the 2425 school year, with our first Market being next week on September 25th.  Markets will continue to be from 9-12pm, but will now be on Wednesdays.  As always, the market is open to all families as well as members of the community.  Please see the attached flyer for our fall semester dates!

 

Hispanic Heritage Month 

This week Southwest kicked off its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Students started off with a special video for them created by staff to kick off our celebrations, music by Hispanic/Latine artists during passing periods, a lesson on Hispanic Serving Institutions during Advisory and beautiful hallway and cafeteria decorations!  Next week students will learn about independence movements of Central and South America.  We'd also like parents to save the date for our first ever Maverick Quince on Friday 10/4 at 6:30PM.  We'll have music, snacks, a quince dress fashion show and performances by Folklorico.  More info to come next week!
