November 11 - 14 - Common Assessment Testing
Hello, Maverick Families –
We are two weeks away from our first round of Common Assessments. This is a critical opportunity for students to showcase all they have learned this year and it provides our staff with the information needed to plan the most targeted instruction. Please ensure that your student is in school every day to prepare and for each exam the week of November 11th.
Advisory Lesson on Hate Speech
Over the last several weeks, we have experienced many students using racial slurs in school. We can not and will not tolerate students using any racial slurs in our school. They cause harm to individuals and the community. Our team has prepared a lesson to reset expectations with students and ensure that they are fully aware of the consequences of using racial slurs. Lessons will be taking place in advisory. Please continue to talk to your students about the importance of kind and respectful language.
Outerwear and Jackets
Our districts uniform policy states that the outer most layer of a student’s clothes must be YES Prep branded. We have several sweatshirt options that you can purchase via RevTrack. Students will be required to remove outerwear and place it in their back pack if it is not YES Prep branded. If a student fails to meet this expectation repeatedly, they may receive escalated consequences. Please make sure that your student is in dress code with their ID every day.
Arrival Expectations
Students should not be dropped off prior to 8:00 AM. Our building is not open and staff are not on duty until 8:00 AM. If students are left at school before 8:00 AM, they are unsupervised. Please work to have your student arrive withing the appropriate timeframe.
